Local Boys Hit BLVD Tonight
Seattlest's wife used to work with Warren Dykeman before he moved to a less corporate position. So we had an early sneak preview at his style, having seen a couple of pieces he hung in their office.
Tonight, Dykeman and fellow local painter Robert Hardgrave, both of whom had pieces in BLVD's inaugral show, are the featured artists in the gallery's Hard Light show.
Hard Light opens tonight with an artist's reception from 6-10pm. If you chat with Warren, tell him James says hi. If you'd rather not meet the artists and drink some free wine, the show runs through Dec. 2.
BLVD's at 2316 Second Avenue -- non-coincidentally right next door to Roq La Rue, Seattle's original lowbrow gallery, which not coincidentally also has a show opening tonight: Retrorama, featuring work by Mark Frauenfelder, Wednesday Kirwan, Chris Reccardi, Lynne Naylor, and Johnny Yanok.
Gallerist Kirsten Anderson says Frauenfelder and Kirwan will be at the Roq, so you've got the chance to see four real-live artists tonight. And our motto is it's always worth checking out an art show with "-rama" in the title, even if it doesn't feature a boingboing founder.
