Three's Company Episode Ends in Expulsion for Former Rainier Beach Star

trip_giles.PNGFormer Rainier Beach basketball star C.J. Giles is now also a former Kansas basketball star after he re-envisioned a Three's Company episode in his own inimitable way.

Giles was entertaining a young woman in his apartment when he received a phone call from his girlfriend. He then asked his guest to leave, because his girlfriend was coming over. She refused. The police report, via Deadspin, explains what happened next.

The 20-year-old woman told police Giles ... grabbed her by the ankles, dragged her off his bed and onto the floor. She told police he continued to drag her into the hallway as she tried to get away and then "struck her in the left side of her head by her ear" with his closed fist. She left the apartment and reported the incident to police at 11:30 p.m.

Giles admitted to police that he dragged the woman across the floor, according to the report, but he denied hitting her in the head. He was not taken into custody, but was given a notice to appear in municipal court Dec. 6 for battery.

Giles, who'd just been reinstated to the team after a suspension for missing practices, was expelled from the team by coach Bill Self, who had a measured reaction:

"This is yet another example of C.J. putting himself in a situation in which negative things can happen."

Um...yeah. Dragging a woman down a hallway--negative things can for sure happen there. Rug burn, for instance. A strained shoulder. Assaulting someone is just rife with possibilities for negative things.

Giles' girlfriend heard the commotion through a cup she was holding up to the door of his apartment, wrongly assumed that something naughty was going on, and stormed off to cry on Mrs. Roper's shoulder.
