Hmph. You may inform your contributor that "I don’t venture *south* of even the cut, unless provoked."

As far as nifty things up here:

--Baranof's on Greenwood at about 87th has possibly the strongest drinks in Seattle, definitely the scariest atmosphere. (And apparently 8am alcoholic Bingo on Saturdays. I don't get up that early to know for myself.)

--BurgerMaster on Aurora at about 100th has fabulous 50s drivein style and very greasy, good food.

--The Maltese Falcon across Aurora from BurgerMaster carries only the "best" movies of all time, as culled from tons of "Best" lists and liberally adjusted by their personal opinion.

I'd add in the OK Corral BBQ in Greenwood. Forget "meeting the man" at Dixies--this is the real deal, and their "hookup" is probably the best value for BBQ in the city, and some of the best tasting to boot.

A friend of mine mentioned (again) that she's a huge fan of the Home Cake Decorating Supply Co. at 9514 Roosevelt in Maple Leaf. She and the three reviewers on Yelp seem to love it, so I now heartily endorse it even though I've never been there.

A couple of other places worth visiting:

Pub at Piper's Creek (Holman/105th and Greenwood)- it's overshadowed by bigger, fancier establishments like Brouwer's, but this place has an excellent selection of micros and a terrific pub menu.
Saltoro (140th and Greenwood)- Would cost twice as much if this place were in Belltown.
Rickshaw (105th & Greenwood)- Karaoke. 'nuff said.

The photography class I'm in went to Edmonds a few weeks back for a Saturday morning photo shoot. I know, I was skeptical too, but you'd be surprised.

Anyway, that theater has free talks by Rick Steves on Saturday mornings. Apparently sometimes it's one of his minions so you might want to call ahead.
