Though Seattlest has long given up dreams of becoming a professional mountain biker, that doesn't stop us from still wanting to get paid to ride our bikes. (If you tell us to become a bike messenger we will be forced to bitch-slap you.) But the moment is finally upon us, and every other two-wheeled geek in Seattle. The P-I just ran a piece on a number of Seattle-area companies that are "best workplaces for commuters" according a list compiled by an EPA-based coalition.
Included in that list was Amgen, a local genetics company which will pay you, in the form of a $50 gift certificate per month, to throw your leg over your trusty steed and ride off into the pissing rain after work. Even better, employees who drive instead pay $65 to park near work each month. Suckers.
Seattlest now officially hearts Amgen, who currently has 53 jobs open in Seattle. Let's see..."Scientist," "Research Scientist," "Engineer," "Principal Scientist," hmmmm. Nothing for "Senior Principal Blogger," dammit.
As an aside, this little nugget of a quote from the article particularly caught our attention:
