Fantagraphics Enters The World Of Bricks And Mortar

fantagraphicscatalog.jpgOn Saturday local comic book deity Fantagraphics is opening a retail outlet in Georgetown. It's their first one and it's going to be incredibly cool, but this is a "soft opening" meaning they'll be there and there should be some stock in the place, but don't expect them to be a well-oiled retail machine. Their grand opening isn't until December so, shhhh, don't tell anyone.

From the Fantagraphics blog:

We will really pull out all the stops beginning in November, with a grand opening in early December. What I can tell you now: The store will contain everything Fantagraphics has in print, including our soon-to-be-legendary damaged room, featuring discounted and often out-of-print books unavailable anywhere else. The space also has room for exhibitions, which we'll have more news about very soon.

So not only will you be able to get all your nerd books there, but we're guessing that they'll use their exhibition space to host art that's vaguely in-line with what BLVD and Roq La Rue show. Good times for low-brow art in Seattle.

It opens at 11:30am Saturday at 1201 South Vale Street which, astute wacko collectors will note, is also the address of Georgetown Records. Fantagraphics and the vinyl guys will be sharing the space.
