Zombies, BMX Bikes, and Cacti
Say it with Seattlest: Oh my.
Prepare yourselves to drown in dance, fabulous dance this weekend. Locust debuts the world premiere of their new work "Mockumentary" Thursday at On the Boards, which OtB is billing as "Part documentary, part horror film, part hip-hop video and part rock show." There will be singing, live music, and dancing; but most importantly there will be zombies and BMX bikes and that is why Seattlest is attending.
Also opening Thursday, legendary multimedia dance troup MOMIX will perform their new work "Opus Cactus" at the Meany Theater for UW's World Series. Seattlest has been mesmerized by MOMIX since we were a wee dancer ourselves, and it has been too long since we've seen them perform. A thinking person's Cirque Du Soleil, MOMIX offers a more subtle thrill with a unique blend of masterful, technically skilled modern dancers and beautiful props, music, and dramatic costumes. We can't wait to see what they will conjure with the desert theme for "Opus Cactus", which will include music from Bach and Brian Eno to Chief Spotted Eagle and Australian aboriginal selections.
