Husky quarterback Isaiah Stanback is out for the rest of his Husky career after his foot imploded during Saturday's loss to the Beavers.
Jerry Brewer gets all columnist on the story, while Bob Condotta writes about it like a normal person on his Husky Football blog.
We can't think of a worse way for Stanback to end his career with the purple and gold. After early inconsistencies, he had finally come into his own, and was almost single-handedly taking the Huskies to a bowl game.
Now, well, who knows?
The team is two wins shy of bowl eligibility with five games left, with painful road trips to Berkeley and Eugene over the next three weeks.
For now, the starting quarterback is master of the bounce pass, Carl Bonnell. However, moving up one spot on the depth chart is Jake Locker, who according to some is the greatest quarterback ever to play the game. Many of course, have never seen him play, they have just seen his picture in the paper.
As for Stanback, well, the former Garfield standout will have surgery and start rehab with the hopes that he did enough this season to make a NFL team select him as a late round pick.
As a fan, we feel really bad for Stanback, and can't help but feel as if this season is about to head right down the drain.
Yeah, Saturday's loss was as bad as we can remember.
