Sonics Inch Closer to Oklahoma City

allen_06_sonics.JPGThe Sonics added four more owners to the new ownership group yesterday. Since they've professed a desire to stay in the Seattle area, we wondered if they'd managed to find at least one local person to join them. Nope.

The new members are William M. Cameron, president and CEO of Oklahoma City-based American Fidelity Assurance Co.; Bob Howard, president of Mercedes Benz of Oklahoma City; Everett Dobson, executive chairman of Oklahoma City-based Dobson Communications Corp.; and Jay Scaramucci, president of Oklahoma City-based Balon Corp.

If you read that paragraph a few times, you might discern a commonality between these four guys. We're not going to give it away, it's too fun to let you figure it our on your own.

We hope the Sonics stay in Seattle, we really do, but at this point, it simply strains credulity.

  • Just let us keep the name and the history. They can take the team. The NBA will give us a new one anyway.
