Please Ignore the Political Candidate Behind This File Folder

Darcy Burner continues to disappoint. Now she's hiding from cameras, reports the Times' David Postman. Burner claims that state law prevents Republican operatives from filming her appearances. Yet Democratic party staffers have taped Republican Mike! McGavick's public appearances all summer. Postman's got the Burner campaign's incredible explanation on his blog.

  • I acually have some pictures that I took of her speaking that were taken in low light so she has satanic looking red-eyes. I think I'll sit on those for now.

"Here's Darcy Burner. We'd love to show her comforting a logger who's lost his job, or assisting an old person who dropped their oxygen mask. But this wanker is holding a file folder in front of our camera, so we don't know what the fuck she's doing.

"She could be sucking the blood out of a Christian baby's neck, or giving a terrorist the blueprints to Fort Knox. We honestly couldn't tell you, because of the file folder."

  • The ironic thing is that the attack ads are so generic and tame and might end up boosting Darcy's name recognition. WA-08 is going to be affected by the coverage of the national wide wave starting when the exit polls start to come out on election day. 2006 is going to be a very bad year to be a Republican on the ballot.

But then again posting a comment on Seattlest ( http://www.seattlest.com/archives/2006/06/08/alzarqawi_found_dean_logan_still_on_the_loose.php#comment-164219 ) did end up on my very first right wing blog hit piece of my political career. I am so damn proud.

  • If I were a Republican, I'd be running ads that use File Folder Guy and voiceovers that ask "What are you afraid of, Darcy? Don't all voters have a right to hear your opinions?" And I'd play dramatic music and maybe use some negative imagery to make it all seem sinister instead of ridiculous.

Republicans (and Democrats) can make attack ads with or without exciting blooper footage from their designated target. But File Folder Guy looks like a wanker without any Republican help.

  • I know you live in super blue King County but over here in Kitsap where we have actual live Republicans that some times actually win elections. It put things in perspective when you see their political machine at work that is willing do and say anything to win.

  • Having a constitutional right to do something doesn't mean you're not a total wanker for doing it.

  • I have met Darcy Burner ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/39882521@N00/69284014/ ) and supported her in the primary and voted to get her to be a Netroots endorsed candidate. She is incredibly smart and shared my morals and values on important issues that face our nation. She is right on the bloody war of lies in Iraq, energy, tax policy and real national security. I see absolutely no problem with a person there using their constitutional right to hold up a folder. Karl Rove is sweating about this race and I don't think we should help them make another corporate funded attack ad against Darcy.

  • David, you obviously have not been paying attention. Chris O'Donnell has been playing one of Meredith's love interests on Grey's Anatomy since last season. Get with the program, dude.

  • David

It's nice to see Chris O'Donnell getting work again.
