Roosevelt Pet Store Break-In Gets Worse

REWARD_FLYER.jpg Yesterday we learned via the Seattle Times that the Roosevelt pet shelter Animal Talk was broken into and vandalized over the weekend. Almost all the animals were let out of their cages and a number of rodent-type things appeared to have been stepped on or killed by the approximately fifty cats that were also released from cages.

Today we learn via Seattle LiveJournal that the cats that appeared to be fine are showing injuries consistant with blunt trauma. The word "drop-kicked" is used in an email that site received from the shelter.

By way of update about Animal Talk, the vet bills are still accumulating. Initially it was thought that the cats were only released so the vandals could watch them go after the rodents, but the cats are coming up with injuries that the vet described as 'having been drop-kicked.' Back, head, and internal injuries are still being found. This afternoon one cat that had seemed fine suddenly started bleeding badly from its nose.

Is there a line between stepping on a mouse and drop-kicking a cat? It's probably trivial if there is - The relationship between violence towards animals and violence towards people has already been shown.

Here's the Animal Talk Rescue site and here's their "help" page. Here's a link to Pasado Safe Haven which is offering money for information and here's a link to some CNN video.

  • Perhaps the cats said, "What are you going to do, drop-kick us?"

  • Seth

This happened on 65th and Roosevelt, and no one heard or saw enough to call police? WTF? Open your damn ears, besotted college students!

  • Bastards... That is a surefire way to earn a one way ticket straight to hell. My girlfreind and I have adopted six cats that were on their way to the pound. Bastards..
