SIFF Whiners

A couple of Seattlest haters went to the Cinerama Wednesday night for one of those SIFF member meetings to freeload champagne and watch the new Stephen Frears movie, The Queen, which is all about the snide back-biting and political maneuvering between Tony Blair and the royal family behind the scenes in the aftermath of Princess Di's death. Lots of media manipulation hijinks, buckets of repressed British hilarity, and some strangely touching moments that somehow managed to move even the coldest, blackest hearts of Seattlest.

But the dominating highlight of the evening was the ridiculous, never-ending Q&A open forum session with the petulant SIFF members who whined about everything from the dearth of SIFF parties, to there being too many SIFF parties, to the lack of convenient parking, whine whine etc etc blah blah. It was like being trapped in the comments section of a Slog post, but without the Slog post. These two mean older chicks sitting in front of Seattlest had the requisite cojones to shout out, "We got a question: When can we start the movie!?" Props to you, mean older chicks. (Confidential to the champagne guy who hooked Seattlest up good: You're HIRED!)
