Aural Pleasures (10/3 - 10/9)

October is here! That means candy apples, inappropriate costumes, and tons of live music.
Tuesday 3rd
>>> Scissor Sisters at The Showbox. Final night to get your gay on with these beautiful boys and girls.
8pm doors; $30. SOLD OUT! - Looks like Craig's List might still have some though. All ages, bar w/ ID
>>> Kristin Hersh with David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) at The Triple Door. Former Throwing Muses frontlady Kristin Hersh has had just as much (if not more) success solo.
7:30pm; $15
>>> Bucky and John Pizzarelli at Jazz Alley. The Griffeys of jazz guitar. In this lineup, dad Bucky plays rhythm guitar ("he's better than me," says John). John sings and solos.
7:30pm; $24.50. (Oct 3-5 - also a 9:30pm show on the 5th)
Wednesday 4th
>>> Cold War Kids at Neumo's. The Futureheads were supposed to headline this show, but a bad case of tendonitis is keeping the boys in the UK. We don't mind. We like CWK and can't help but bob our heads and smile to "Hospital Beds."
8pm; $10 (if you bought Futureheads tix in advance, you'll get $3 back at the door). All ages, bar w/ ID
>>> TV On the Radio at The Showbox. Thumping, pulsating, and lovely, their new-ish album Return to Cookie Mountain has been getting constant rotation in our player lately.
8pm doors; $16 adv, $18 dos. All ages, bar w/ ID. Grizzly Bear opens
>>> Datri Bean at The Tractor. Old time, slow like honey, piano music.
8pm; $10
Thursday 5th
>>> The Sea Navy at The Sunset. This is a CD release thingy for Jay Cox's band. The music will rock and how could you not go see a show advertised by this badass poster?
8pm; $6. All ages
>>> Swaybacks at Sunset Tavern. Sweet, smooth, spectacular alt.country.
9pm; $6
Friday 6th
>>> Bettye Levette at The Triple Door. Bettye Levette is a super soul diva.
8pm; $20
Saturday 7th
>>> Art Brut at Neumo's. The best new British act of the last few years returns to Seattle. Their last appearance, a sold-out show at Neumo's in March, was before their debut album Bang, Bang, Rock & Roll was even released in the states. Now, with an extended version of the record out from Downtown Records, Art Brut is back to a no-doubt packed house. With We Are Scientists and the Spinto Band.
8pm doors; $13 advance. All-ages balcony
>>> Princess Superstar at Chop Suey. She's been called the white Lil Kim and the female Eminem, but this pint-sized blonde is sexy, talented, and flat-out hilarious in her own right. She's at Chop Suey for a DJ set, but fingers crossed that she'll still rap about how much she wants to do Kool Keith.
9pm doors; $7
Sunday 8th
>>> Thunderbirds are Now! at Chop Suey. With You Say Party! We Say Die! also on the bill, this is the show of the week if you love exclamations.
8pm doors; $8. All ages
Monday 9th
>>> The Tilth Tractor Pull with The Tallboys and WB Reid & Bonnie Zahnow at The Tractor. A concert and square dance benefit for Seattle Tilth. Sponsored by the New Belgium Brewing Company.
8pm; $12 adv, $15 dos

Good catch, Kathrine. It's only $6.
