Mars Hill's West Seattle Debut Draws 600

Jesus is a good God with people in this city that he wants to love and transform and bless.

So asserts James Harleman, a pastor of Mars Hill Church, which officially opened in West Seattle on Sunday. Mars Hill says that 600 showed up for opening day at Chief Sealth High, and there were more than 3,000 worshipers at the main Ballard location.

West Seattle Blog wonders if Mars Hill will poach adherents of other evangelical churches, and the P-I reports from the scene.

Speaking of religion, we attended the Eastside Catholic @ Blanchet football game on Saturday afternoon, arriving just in time to see a priest out on the field, sanctifying it with holy water. Weird. God let his two Catholic schools battle it out without any divine intervention. E. Catholic (the Crusaders!) turned a 4th quarter interception into a touchdown, putting Blanchet two scores down and forcing them to throw, which they don't do well. The final was 35-17, Eastsiders.

We were doing great until the fourth quarter when Jesus made our team fumble. Jesus hates our team.
