Aural Pleasures (9/26-10/2)

earlick.jpg Another copious serving of live tunes (not to mention opportunities to leave your smelly apartment), courtesy of Seattlest. You can thank us later.

Tuesday 26th

>>> The Presets at Chop Suey. Between The Presets electro-rock and opening acts The Girls and No-Fi Soul Rebellion, this show can't help but to leave you in a sweaty heap by the end of the night.
9pm doors; $8 adv. 21+

>>> DJ Krush at Neumo's. Japan's DJ Krush has taken a reverence for NY hip-hop and altered it to suit his Eastern heritage, crafting and molding beats like bonsai trees, leaving audiences gasping at the beauty in his aural garden.
9pm doors; $15 adv. 21+

Wednesday 27th

>>> La Rocca and Phoenix at the Croc. Who could possibly resist the intoxicating combination of California-sounding Irishmen and electro-pop Frenchies?
9pm doors; $15

Thursday 28th

>>> Manhattan Transfer at Jazz Alley. The best vocal group in America for nearly a generation. Your All-4-Ones and Color Me Badds come and go, but these guys soldier on with a talent and tightness that's unmatched.
7:30/9:30; $45 (9/28 - 10/1). There're tickets left for only the 9:30 shows on Thursday and Sunday. Call 206-441-9729 for reservations

>>> Eva Tree and Darren Smith at The Croc. Eva's CD Release party -- sensitive singer/songwriters making pretty music.
8pm; $10 adv/$12 dos

>>> Man Man at Neumo's. This high-energy Philly band likes the percussion. Featuring two local opening acts who've been gigging *a lot* lately: Fleet Foxes and The Lights.
8pm doors; $9 adv/$10 dos

>>> Trespassers William at The High Dive. Last week's Coldplay was Starsailor. This week's is Trespassers William, but you also get a Downpilot CD release party.
9pm; $6

Friday 29th

>>> The Junior Boys at Neumo's. This technology driven pop group from north of the border frequently rolls with the awesome Caribou (not this time, though).
8pm; $12

>>> The Ettes at High Dive. We can't stop listening to the Ettes' album Shake the Dust, but then we're always suckers for Billy Childish-esque garage rock pop.
10pm; $7. (Also on the bill: The Purrs and The Village Green.)

Saturday 30th

>>> Asobi Seksu at Chop Suey. Hopefully KEXP is hyping this show like crazy, since NYC's Asobi Seksu is a great band and their last Seattle show was criminally underattended. If you need incentive, know that the lead singer is smokin' hot so you'll have plenty of eye candy even if you don't like the music.
5pm doors; $8 adv. 21+

>>> Carrie Akre at The Triple Door. Seattlest Seth says, "All the girlfriendless, wanna-be musicians in my Garfield class had a crush on Carrie Akre, then lead singer of Hammerbox. Now they are married and having kids and working for banks and shit, while Akre's gone solo."
8pm; $17.50 adv/$20 day of show. Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde is the headliner

>>> The Divorce at The Paradox. The Divorce are the headliner here, but you can see them any time. The Bound Stems and their advanced pop are the real draw for this show.
7:30pm; $7. All Ages

>>> Kim Ruehl & Betamax at University Zoka. Seattlest's own rocking the UW coffeehouse thing.
8 pm; free. All ages

Sunday, October 1st

>>> Kaki King/Christine Baze/Sarah Bettens at the Triple Door. Three female singer-songwriters touring to promote HPV and cervical cancer, or at least the awareness thereof. We can smell the estrogen already.
7:30pm; $16adv/$18dos

Monday 2nd

>>> Scissor Sisters at the Showbox. Gay it up for the first performance of the glam band's two-night stand.
8pm doors; $30. Both nights all ages
