Husky win nets a couple of recruits
The atmosphere of Saturday's thrilling comeback win over UCLA, the second-biggest UW home comeback ever, apparently won over recruits for both the football and basketball team.
Kennedy's Nate Williams, a running back/safety who's dominated opponents this year, told recruiting coordinator Chris Tormey after the game that he'll be a Husky next year. Williams also had a verbal offer from UCLA, according to Scout.com.
The basketball team got a committment from Justin Holiday, a 6-6 swingman who's being compared to Bobby Jones, although at 170 pounds, he'll have to bulk up. Holiday's also a dead ringer for Darius Miles.
Recruiting Holiday could be part of a master plan to recruit the guy's younger brother, Jrue, a shooting guard who Scout.com rates the nation's #2 prospect at that position in the Class of 2008.
And Rivals.com reports that Devin Aguilar, a basketball and football star from Denver, verbally committed to the UW too. Aguilar is a wide receiver in football and a point guard in basketball.
