Some people have too much time on their hands (and too little perspective) if they are seriously up in arms about this.

My GOD people...it's freakin' COFFEE! A BEVERAGE!?!

If you are one of those people who are getting bent about somebody getting a coffee for a cheaper price than you, please take this opportunity to ask yourself this question:

Why do you care?

Is it affecting your coffee experience? Absolutely not- just as NOT using cream/sugar doesn't affect your coffee experience. You make the choice to order and pay for a certain product in a certain way. The "ghetto latte" drinkers do the same thing. There is no "right/wrong" in this equation - just "different".

Now, please, find a little self-respect and quit acting like the bratty little kid at the birthday party who whined that his slice of the cake was smaller.

Especially in the context of all the true horror taking place daily in this world, you are presenting yourself as an egocentric and shallow jackass.

"Ghetto Latte", "baristas", Venti, Verdi, Americano,cachets"...?

First off... only a freaking yuppie DWEEB would even ATTEMPT to use that made up lingo with any sort of seriousness.

I came across this and a few other sites with folks in an uproar about all this "ghetto latte" crap by accident.
Lemme tell ya something... first of all the term
"ghetto latte" is an oxymoron... cuz no self respectin' person from the ghetto would be caught DEAD in a fuckin' Starbucks.
(or like I call it... "Fourbucks".)
They got more common sense than to spend four bucks on a coffee.

Second... WHO DA FUCK CARES???

If anyone, including Starbucks employees are getting their lil panties in a bunch about this, and are also referring to themselves as "baristas"...
need to stop taking their piddlyshit lil jobs and COFFEE so frickin' seriously!

C'mon... puh-frickin'-leeeeze...!!!!
Gimme a fuckin' break!

GET A FUCKING LIFE!
DIE YUPPIE SCUMBAGS!

So ... I guess if I order a coffee and then add cream from the self service counter it's a Ghetto Latte??

I guess the coffee bourgeoisie's who frequent places like Starbuck's must not remember that America (the rest of us) grew up on plain old Java with Milk, Java with Cream and/or sugar.

If you wanted a shot of something with that, you ordered your coffee in a bar ;) hmmm...

It's stunning to me that so many people and corporations think it's fine to glamorize a neighborhood defined by squalor and broken dreams.

By implying poor people do things a certain way - but it's cool (and perhaps exciting) for non-poor people to do it that way too - is explotive and thoughtless.

Living in the ghetto is neither cool or exciting and implying in any way it is devalues the struggles people living in a real ghetto have to deal with everday.

I drink an Americano every day. And, just to add insult to injury, I have them leave a little room for cream. After receiving said Americano I add some skim milk and a dash of chocolate and cinnamon. Yes I'm well aware that a barista could do that for me. But why would I pay $3.50 for something that, in reality, is only worth $1.50?

Besides they should be grateful to get my business at all. I own my own espresso machine at home and have access to one my employer owns that I can use for free.

And, for the record, I hate Starbucks. When I do order anything more complicated I patronize smaller local shops.

How dare they attempt to make money by providing a service? They should sell that coffee for way cheaper. Then we can all go and get a cup of coffee that tastes like folgers, just like we all had in the 80's. Screw well made coffees, with steamed milk. I want my crummy coffee, with luke warm creamer packages. Oh wait, maybe I will pay more for a better quality coffee. It's $3.00 people! Who Cares? ghetto latte drinkers enjoy your cheap assed $1.50 savings. you over there with the $4.00 mondo drink, enjoy yours. Now go home, nothing to see here except commerce.
