Things Are Looking Up for the Huskies, But...

usc_trojans.jpgWe were listening to KJR's "Husky Honks" on our way into work today. It's fun to listen to Husky talk now, there's optimism for the first time since--we don't know...'02?

While the Huskies have been sinking, USC's been rising. Back-to-back national championships, and one play away from a third. Last year, they demolished the Dawgs at Husky Stadium 51-24. This year Washington plays at SC, and there's little hope for a different outcome.

Beating USC's always seemed like the key to a great Husky season--the 1990 "all I saw was purple" 31-0 whitewash of the then-#5 Trojans set the tone for two national-championship-contending years.

Someday, obviously, the Dawgs will beat USC again. But that seems a long way away.

So here's our question: What year do you think the Huskies will next beat USC?

I have to laugh at the homers posting here. It'll be at least 5 years before UW beats USC, and probably longer. Sanctions or not. Beating San Jose, and Fresno State by a point, while an improvement, is a far, far cry from being competitive.

We're thinking 2009. 2008 will be at USC--the Huskies have only won at USC three times in the past forty years.

I like way weazley thinks. However, I'm going to go with 2008. USC will be reeling from NCAA sanctions over the Reggie Bush fiasco and Jake Locker will be in his second year as a starter. Gilbertsons' recruits will be gone and Ty's boys will be on the field (see how good his players make Charlie Weiss look).

    you heard it here first.

When's the sun slated to burn out? I'll say that they won't beat 'em in the next 4 years, but probably before there's a woman/minority president.
