The New New Final School Closures List
By this point it's pretty obvious that the Seattle Public School Board's strategy is to continue this shell game of school closures until students, parents and the public at large is so completely confused as to put up little or no struggle. And as if by magic, the budget will be balanced. If we were the sadistic type, your computer would currently be downloading a MIDI version of some clown music to further illustrate our point.
That point being: The school closures thing is a bigger mess right now than the Viaduct. For example, we can't even make out what's being said on the Seattleschools.org site about closures and there's no way the Seattle Times and Post Intelligencer can either, but they probably went to this morning's press conference. They seem to agree that Alternative School No. 1, Roxhill Elementary and The Genesee Hill building (that currently houses Pathfinder) were sentenced this morning.
Superintendent's Final Recommendation on School Consolidation and Closure includes the following schools:
Viewlands Elementary Greenwood Elementary John Marshall M.L. King Elementary Hughes Fairmount Park High Point Elementary Whitworth Elementary Dearborn Park Elementary Orca at Columbia building Rainier View Elementary Emerson Elementary
