Burlesque? Stripping? Let's Just Say "Naked Chicks"
Suicide Girls is five years old, which makes these young starlets some of the grande dames of alt-porn. You can celebrate with them tonight, when they bring their controversial burlesque show to Neumo's.
"Controversial" not because Donald Wildmon is picketing, though. "Controversial" because a lot of burlesque performers think that the live Suicide Girls show isn't really burlesque -- it's stripping. ChartAttack explained the distinction, back in 2004:
The Suicide Girls have burlesque and stripping confused. Burlesque is traditionally tongue-in-cheek political/social satire mixed with hilarity and classy nudity. Watching a gothed-out woman dance to Marilyn Manson, another to AC/DC, cans of whipped cream and chocolate sauce being smeared around a dozen quasi-nude women who are already making out is incredibly hot, but it’s what you find down at the peelers or your cousin’s stag party, not in burlesque.Fact is, several sexy women who like less lke cookie-cutter copies of Pamela Anderson and more like cookie-cutter copies of Bettie Page will be getting naked at Neumo's tonight. Whatever you call it -- Missy Suicide suggests "the most dangerous burlesque show in the world!" -- Seattlest approves of the idea.
