Rentonist? It's a Few Miles South of Seattlest

rentonsign.jpgYesterday we googled the phrase "best restaurant in Renton." (Don't ask.) It turned up this post on A Displaced Hipster's Guide to Renton, which gives the Melrose Grill top honors in Seattle's southern suburb. DH's mission statement: "Two years ago, my wife and I moved out of the city of Seattle to the lovely suburby city of Renton, Washington. We've learned to survive without great restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment--here's how we do it."

Like any great blog, Displaced Hipster knows how to stir the pot. One of our coworkers saw their current favorable review of Tommy's Cafe and said, "I've been to Tommy's Cafe, and it's HORRIBLE. This guy's on crack drugs."

Like many other blogs, DH updates sporadically (every 1.5 weeks or so, it seems), and is supposedly a community effort (four contributors) that's dominated by one participant (only one of them has contributed since late July). Nonetheless, it's the finest Renton blog we know of.

We're familiar with several Seattle neighborhood blogs: West Seattle Blog, Capitol Hill Seattle, Belltown Bent.

But Displaced Hipster is the first Seattle suburb blog we've found. It seems like a natural niche. What's the definitive Bellevue blog (even if it's not a suburb)? Everett? Lake Forest Park?

Let us know about any good suburban (and neighborhood--Ballard? Georgetown? Wedgwood?) blogs. We've got room in our RSS reader. Right now, the field seems wide open.

Hmm...this gives me an idea to start an Issaquah suburb blog. I'd have difficulty thinking of things to write about though - not to mention the self censorship due to fearing the HOA.

Kirkland is an interesting place (go ahead and laugh, you smug hipsters) and has a very good blog:
