Seattle Craigslist keeps on flowin'. While the internets fall all over themselves to lulz harder than the next guy, post eloquent treatises on the state of Jason Fortuny's mind or speculate in comments exactly how long it will take for him to get sued, charged, killed or otherwise karmically retrobutionized over his notorious CL Experiment, the scene of the crime seems oddly quiet.
In the Craigslist Seattle Casual Encounters all the boys and girls are still trolling for fleeting love and random hookups and even in the sometimes inferno of the Rants n' Raves section only the occasional "Re: Re: Fuck Fortuny" appears. Inside the wronged Kink forums? Not a word! What gives? Not sure what, exactly, we're expecting to find at Seattle CL - Maybe a ghost town, maybe a rant and rave uprising, maybe posses forming, but certainly not business as usual.
You would think that after Fortuny and friend posed as a woman looking to get her "ass spanked with welts and bruises" and invited Craigslist users to "send ur stats and a face pic and i'll return mine to you. don't fuckin spam me, or i'll cut off ur balls," and were promptly, well, spammed by 178 dudes whose replies they posted to a wiki that things would calm down on the hookup boards for a few days at least. How someone can spend twenty seconds thinking about these events and then go to Craigslist and even consider replying to "want to hookup with some hot college dude - w4m - 24" or "Trying New Things - w4m - 42" is beyond Seattlest.
Okay, Trying New Things, what have you got?
I am looking for someone discreet that can show me what I have been missing all this time. I think I would like to try bondage and being dominated, since I have been reading lately and this really gets me excited. I have not gone out to the clubs and dressing the part but would enjoy pushing my own boundaries in public. I can't put my picture here but yours gets mine. No doubt the crotches of dozens of hapless, would-be doms are being illuminated by flash bulbs (note: turn off the damn red eye reduction) as you read this and Trying New Things is either in newly-divorced sexual bliss or furiously pasting the responses into an LJ entry in the hopes of riding the long tail of internet fame. We emailed "Trying" to see if we could get a line on what kind of response her ad was getting. "Sorry, but the craigslist user address you recently mailed does not seem to be valid." A deluge of jpgs must have descended so powerfully upon this woman that she started blocking the CL forwarder.
How can respondents be sure they're not mailing a wannabe Fortuny in this post CL Experiment world? Where do we go from here? How the hell are we supposed to get laid on the internet now?
You know, Craigslist is its own little world, just like the thousands of other impenetrable own little worlds on the internet. Seattlest guarantees you 98% of the people posting or replying to requests for sex on CL right now have no idea that Jason Fortuny outed nearly two hundred nudie-picture-mailing Romios this week. Hell, two thirds of the people he posted pictures of are probably still hoping to hear back from the chick they planned to deliver ass whelts and bruises to and won't even find out that they were publicized until a 2am bout of ego Googling a year from now.

Oh well, Seattle.Craigslist, you're like the river. Nothing's going to stop the flow of hasty propositions and dick pics.
