We Laughed Indoors

eeyore.jpgWhy is it when we're depressed, we insist on listening to depressing music? Seattlest has been playing "Fuck it Man" by Mellowdrone and "Eli, The Barrow Boy" by The Decemberists all morning.

We're saying goodbye to a friend tomorrow you see, and it's one of those permanent goodbyes that have a tendancy to sit in your stomach for a while.

About a month ago, we adopted a dog from the Tacoma Humane Society. We named him Stanley and we welcomed him into our home and we loved him. However, things have taken a sour turn recently, that turn being him turning on us. After the physical pain of bruised arm and swollen hand subsided, the real pain set in. We knew Stanley could not be our friend anymore, because even if we could do something about his behavior, we simply can't trust him, especially around children. So, we'll be taking that long drive back to Tacoma tomorrow morning where Stanley will surely be euthanized for his unfortunate behavioral ticks. We absolutely hate this. Hence the depressing music.

Skip ahead a couple hours and we're standing in Bartell Drugs - the one by Westlake Center, under All-Star Fitness. We're looking at the shitty food in the refridgerators and feeling low.

It starts raining. Some sad Karen Carpenter song starts playing overhead. Really.

The ceiling is leaking water because a pipe burst during construction on the new All-Star fitness. People are running around with buckets. It's chaos.

And the irony of the sitution sends us into an almost embarassing fit of laughter. We're doing a little better now.

what a shame about the dog! Couldn't there be an intervention ala the Dog Whisperer?
