The problem with most fringe sketch comedy shows is that they are not very funny or original. If you've ever sat through a painfully humorless show, we feel your pain.
For the next two weekends, however, SketchFest Seattle will be featuring comedy groups from all over the country (not the South) who are actually funny.
The first weekend features three very strong groups and three others we have never seen, but that are sure to perform well. Which is more then we can say about some people.
The Cody Rivers Show, Elephant Larry, and the one-man show All American Push Up Party featuring local boy Dusty Warren are three groups who will not disappoint. They are simply hilarious, and perform sharp, witty, original material, that makes sketch comedy look like a respectable art and not hacky, bang-a-flimsy-topical-premise-into-the-ground-schtick that plagues small theatres and TV.
If you see these shows you will laugh out loud, you will repeat the lines to the people that you went to this show with, and then you will try and recreate the wacky situations for your co-workers on Monday, only to forget key parts, and end up getting blank stares.
In all honesty, you owe it to yourself to see Warren before he leaves and becomes a big star.
For $15 you get two shows, and maybe even a free program. The shows start tonight and run through Saturday at the Erickson Theatre on Capitol Hill.

Sweet, I love those shows. Thanks for the heads up.
Not the South? Oh, I guess that is why we all find such a big "Northwest" literature section in bookstores around the country and nothing from the South...uh...yeah...
