America Can't Afford Starbucks, Resorts to Ghetto Lattes
Seattlest must have too much money or something. Or, alternately, no wonder Seattlest doesn't have any money. We can't remember the last latte that was served to us, but there was a time when the espresso and milk flowed like wine. When it finally crossed our mind that we were spending all our Oly money on hot milk, we started ordering Americanos. Then drip. We are not far from, "How much for a handful of beans?"
The "Ghetto Latte" never occured to us.
A Ghetto Latte is an Americano, half ice, no water. Then you go over to the condiment counter and fill it with milk or half and half or skim or whatever, and you're off with a fancy chick drink in the spare change price range. Try it and report back and make sure you tip with your savings. Apparently this is a well known technique among Starbucks baristas and is alternately referred to as a "Poor Man's Latte."
