The Mars Bar Gets Eerie

Perhaps in celebration of Pluto's demotion, this Sunday ushers in a new monthly showcase at the Mars Bar. The Iterative Rock Interaction---awkwardly acronymed "IRI," and even more awkwardly pronounced "eerie"---debuts Sunday, August 27th at 8pm. The opening night's the oddman out, on the last Sunday of the month and starting early. The series will continue every third Sunday of the month (September 17th, October 15th, November 16th, and so on and so forth) at 9pm. All shows are 21+ and have a $5 cover charge.
The debut's lineup with obligatory MySpace links:
Das Llamas (the erstwhile Stabmasterarson)
Umber Sleeping
Mama Loves Daddy
Megasapien
Looking to the future, September's showcase will include Portland's Adam Gnade, as well as Angelo Spencer, Branta, and the Pagan States. Already confirmed for October are The Shotgun (Portland) and David G./Limbs (Spokane). There's rumors of Damien Jurado at December's show. So the focus is on local and Northwest-based indie musicians, some more well-known than others.
As to the Mars Bar, we are a fan. Sure, it's a tiny venue with a fairly shitty sound system (no monitors), but it's got a great laid-back feel and astronomical food care of Cafe Venus. We have sampled a great deal of the menu (mmm...mini pizzas) and their yummy 'n' potent cocktails. It seems that the live music of Eerie provides just one more reason to spend a cozy night at the Mars Bar.
