Your Seattle Dream Team
Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford and Spencer Hawes on one squad. Our fantasy basketball team circa 2008?
No, fucking reality--if you were watching the Entertainer's Basketball Classic at the Rucker courts in the Bronx yesterday.
It's a two-on-two tournament. Seattle played L.A. in the first game, going with Nate Robinson and Spencer Hawes exclusively.
[Pause while we cream our pants]
They won that game, then the Seattles went with Brandon Roy and Jamal Crawford in game two, against an NYC team featuring 10th grade phenom Lance Stephenson. Stephenson attends Lincoln High, the school that brought you Stephon Marbury and Sebastian Telfair. According to InsideHoops.com, Stephenson showed Jamal Crawford who the best guard in NYC is:
Stevenson repeatedly and convincingly owned Knicks guard Jamal Crawford. Posted up and spun off him for layups. Faced him up and got to the rim, finishing the plays. Hitting jumpers.
So Seattle went down, but we'll prefer to assume that they let the home team win.
We learned about this via Bob Condotta's increasingly indispensable Husky Hoops blog, where they bounce off this story to consider who'd be the best team of Seattle-area high school grads.
Guest poster Bob Payne picks Hawes, Roy, Robinson, Crawford, Jon Brockman, Marvin Williams, Jason Terry, C.J. Giles, Martell Webster and Luke Ridnour.
Payne then adds:
I would have to say this team would be competitive with any other dream team from just about any other metro area in the country.
You KNOW! Sea-town!
