It's sad that when you alert people to a restaurant closing, the pool of people who care is likely small. However, the buzz of 15th Avenue is that Kozak's has closed, sold to the folks who bring Fremont the Nectar Lounge. (Thanks to Liberty for the tip.)
We had a neighborly chat with the Nectarines about their plans, and they say in 4-6 weeks (about the same time as it takes to get your sea monkeys, ordered from the back of a comic book), Kozak's will see new life as a Mediterranean-flavored lounge. Bring it, we say! But bring it 15th-style.
Kozak's didn't enjoy our patronage because we could never figure out what the place was about: a bar, family dining? -- plus the menu was...quirky. We're thinking of the deep-fried ravioli appetizers and "peaches and ice cream" dessert: with peach halves that came out of a can, dripping with syrup.
