Skate Your Way To The A List Tomorrow In PDX
Blake Nelson wrote a book that will be released in September called Paranoid Park about a skater who kills a security guard at a skate park. It hasn't been reviewed yet at least as far as we can tell on Amazon, but the cover art is super cheesy. Well, there is the little publisher's review thingy:
Writing more intensely than ever before, Blake Nelson delivers a film noir in book form, complete with interior monologue and dark, psychological drama.
Gus Van Sant is apparently creating the film noir in film form because he's having a casting call for skaters in Portland scheduled for tomorrow at the Ambridge Event Center. The email we have says the film's title will also be "Paranoid Park." They're mainly looking for males and females ages 14-18 but they'll also be casting skaters as extras ages 14-30.
If the half-watched Last Days that's sitting on Seattlest's DVD player at home right now and Elephant are any indication you can take a lot of shots at Van Sant but you can't say he doesn't cast authentic.
