Lap Dance Laws Come To San Francisco

mini-LapDanceEric.JPGWe established yesterday that Portland wants to be Seattle by pointing out the fact that they have residents who quit the car (for a month) in much the same way Ballard resident Allen Durning has (for good). Tenuous, maybe, but good on 'em. The idea that families need automobiles like they need prime time television should be challenged. Today we suggest that San Francisco wants to be Seattle by pointing out the fact that their lap dances are being threatened in much the same way ours were (successfully, unfortunately) recently.

Check out this item from our sister site SFist:

The battle over lap dances in strip clubs moved to the Entertainment Commission last Friday as they held an often contentious, standing-room-only hearing on the issue. During the meeting, strippers, err "exotic dancers," testified in front of the commission to say that the proposed new rules, that calling for the ending of private rooms and booths and it's possible ending of lap dancing, could impede their ability to make money.

One has to wonder how many of the standing-room-only crowd were strip club patrons putting forward the idea that the new rules could impede their ability to have their boner rubbed in exchange for money.

Dear San Fran, it takes a lot more then new lap dance regulations to completely and accurately mimic the Seattle strip club experience. Requiring opera glasses for the viewing of a dance is just the start. Turn up the lights and ditch the alcohol and you're getting there. If a new club tries to open have both your mayor and the existing clubs fight it. Then have your mayor state that he thinks organized crime exists somewhere in the world but specifically at Ricks.

Stay tuned the rest of this week as Seattlest continues our puny assualt on the pillars of the new nanny state. Monday gambling, Wednesday stripping, Friday smoking.
