In 1994, when I worked for WashPIRG going door-to-door asking for money, they called her Maria "Can't-vote-Well."

Which is not that funny, but does show how long there's been liberal dissatisfaction with her. It's a damn shame we aren't using this year, which will be a lopsided Democratic landslide, to put a strong liberal voice in the Senate.

or perhaps a more obvious answer - cantwell's support for the war hasn't been unwavering to the point of lunacy. she's definitely in favor of getting the troops home sooner, and even spoke out against permaneny bases being created there.

beyond that, maria votes the right way most of the time (alito, bankruptcy, schiavo, net neutrality), doesn't provide cover for republicans to claim that there's 'bipartisan support' for bad legislation, and doesn't publicly accuse her own party of treason. it's not just about the war.

i have my problems with cantwell & don't trust her all the time. that said, she's a reliable democrat doing mostly good work. the anger against her is single-issue and isn't coming from a broad swath of the entire party's voters in this state, unlike your inappropriate example. we don't need a lamont.
