Mariners of the Future
USS Mariner updated their "M's Future Forty" list today. It's their exhaustive summary of anyone who could potentially be anyone for the Mariners. And, though the farm system's thinning out as players reach the majors (Adam Jones) or get traded for useful parts (Shin-Soo Choo), the news is good:
...the farm system is doing its job - stocking the major league club with young, effective, cheap talent. A huge portion of the M’s success this season can be tied directly to the players the farm system promoted in the last 12-18 months.
One bit of disappointing news that we learned. Woodinville's Matt Tuiasasopo, who turned down a football scholarship at the UW to play baseball, is really struggling in AA, batting only .192 with only two extra base hits in 125 at bats. This after posting a less than inspiring .738 OPS in the hitter-friendly Cal League. Both bad signs.
Is Tuiasasopo Drew Henson redux? And, if so, would he give football another chance? We could use him.
