Tina Dico Captures Our Attention

tinadico.jpgWe've been trying to come up with a better way to word this, but we'll just go ahead and state the obvious. Tina Dico is smoking hot. Seattlest can't claim to be a singer-songwriter diehard, but when Tina Dico was on stage for last week's Chop Suey show, it wasn't hard at all to be entirely engaged.

Tina Dico was in town to support her latest disc, "In the Red." While she is already an established hitmaker in her native Denmark and in Europe, she is still trying to establish herself across the pond with this international debut. In the US, she's known primarily for her contributions to the 2nd Zero 7 album, going along for the subsequent tour.

It would be far too easy to dismiss Tina Dico as just a pretty face, but her music reveals her to be a highly capable vocalist and songwriter. With sincere songs that were both personal and immediately universal, it was obvious that Tina Dico was putting a little piece of herself into each song, something that resonated with the highly appreciative audience. It's very telling that a large segment of the room (including the males) stood with closed eyes, singing along with Dico's delicate yet powerful voice.

The singer-songwriter has a large barrier to overcome in their live performances. A solo individual with a guitar is only moderately exciting, so it takes a lot to just keep an audience's attention, and even more to truly engage them. Tina Dico managed to do both without any hint of difficulty, more a result of her inner talent than her outer beauty (not that that hurt the cause).

"In the Red" is available now. Samples can be heard here.

She's a little too elvin for me. Also, her nose is too small and uppointy. Also, her music bores me.
