Our Hometown NBA Team Will Open In Seattle (against the Sonics)
Who opens against the Sonics at the Key? Why it's the only locally-owned NBA franchise! Also the only one that:
- Features two players who attended Seattle high schools
- Is coached by one of the city's most beloved sports figures
- We decided to back even before Howard Schultz took a shit on the city that made him rich
That team, the Portland Trail Blazers, kickoff their 2006-07 regular season here in Seattle on November 1st.
That's right, on 11/1, you'll find us cheering on our new favorite team as while the few remaining Sonics fans groan as Blazers #1 pick Brandon Roy repeatedly posterizes Sonics #1 pick Sade.
NBA schedulers must have a fantastic sense of humor. We hope Sade does.
Oh, guess what--we just realized that there are two NBA franchises that have two players from Seattle high schools. There's also the Knicks, who have Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson. Both went to Rainier Beach. Seattle represent!
