Blogging duties can really get on top of traditional reporter and columnist types. Their days are already packed with making phone calls, dicking around on the internet, occasionally driving somewhere, occasionally tapping out a story; how the hell are they supposed to find time to write on the internet on top of all that? Everyone just wants to talk on the internet anyway - No one's listening on the web. The public demands you start a blog for months and you resist. Finally the word comes down from the top, "You're blogging now," and no one reads the damn thing. You know what, screw this.
Knute Berger at the Seattle Weekly has posted four times in his new Mossblog and the third of those announces that he quits. "You want news on the fucking blog?" we image he mumbled to himself while writing his "Independence Day" post.
I gave my new bosses six weeks notice, so there's plenty of time for you to write your own love notes. I'll be writing a few more of my own, as well.
We can only hope that by "love notes" he means anti-environmentalist bombs like his famous "people who don't own cars are jerks" column of a few weeks ago. Actually, we don't have any information on whether he's got another gig lined up or not, but here's to hoping he gets himself a blogspot address ASAP where he can continue the good work he once must have done, unencumbered by the current politics of the Seattle Weekly.

Friendly Folk-Pop for the Kids: Hey Marseilles at Vera This Saturday

Rumours say that Knute's going to work for Katherine Koberg at Seattle Metropolitan.
Ha, what little gnome left that I wonder. Anyway, that's probably true but I wonder if it's the right fit.
