By now it’s no secret that Seattlest is all ga-ga over local showmasters, Awesome. We’ve recommended numerous times that you, John and Jane Q.P., experience for yourselves this strange and wonderful ensemble, and well, here we are once more.
As if there wasn’t enough going on this weekend, Awesome will be playing two shows.
First, Saturday July 1st at the High Dive, Awesome will kick things off for another broadcast of KEXP’s live local music show, Audioasis. All four Audioasis DJs will be there and the six bucks it’ll cost ye to enter will go to benefit the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Says KEXP:
The IRC helps people fleeing persecution, war and violence. In Seattle, IRC provides assistance to refugees needing safe housing, English classes, employment, or other services.
Doors for this show open at 5pm and Awesome will grace the stage first at 6:30pm so get there early.
Also playing: Love Battery, Memphis Radio Kings, The Valley and John Roderick of the Long Winters. If you’re game for a long night of great music, we’ll see you there.
If you’re thinking, To hell with everyone else. I need a bigass fix of Awesome and only Awesome, you can check them out Sunday night at Open Circle Theatre. It promises to be a night of fun and reminiscence as they take you through a “greatest hits” of sorts from the past 2+ years of performing. If that’s not enough to get you there, consider the heat wave we’ve been facing and then consider the rumors of free popsicles being handed out Sunday night.
