I think the indictment was intended against the previous commenter Danielle and not the parent post. However, trivia masters should know that we can be bought.

After a full and thorough investigation of freddy's payola charges, we've determined that they are correct and charged James under the appropriate provision of the Patriot Act. Barring the machinations of activist judges, James will die in Gitmo. God Bless This Land.

Pay us? Hell, Fred knew I was playing, knew I was from Seattlest, and still wouldn't rig the game to let me win a $25 discount.

If he'd paid me, the review would have been much kinder and ended with the words "we'll always go to The Jones' trivia contest because it's the best in Seattle!"

As a long time Fred follower (EMP, Red Hook, The Jones) I have to say that FRED MAKES TRIVIA GREAT! He is a terrific host, has questions ranging from tough to easy-peasy, he's funny, and a great all around guy. The Jones has fabulous food, the nicest owners around, and a great wait staff. Playing for free and winning $ off the tab is good enough for me- a broke teacher who just likes being a trivia geek.

Yeah, the prize thing isn't really a knock on the Jones -- it boils down to personal preference. The Jones is easily the most comfortable trivia venue I've played at (so far) in Seattle, and has the best food. (Another reason to steer clear of the Old Pequliar: their dispiriting menu.)

As a member of Sunday's Canada Likes to Come from Behind (of COURSE we were referring to last Friday's Stanley Cup game outcome), I can attest to the Jones' and Fred's awesomeness. And James is right that there's no chance to win big money, but personally, I'd rather play for free every week for the chance of discounted food than put in $5 every week for the chance of a big trivia pot. But I've never been much of a gambler.

Plus, the Jones has The Best Fries in Seattle.
