This weekend, the Northwest Chamber Chorus will present its final concert of the year. They have built their program around three composers whose last names start with the letter "b": Billings, Bruckner, and Bernstein.
From their website:
Northwest Chamber Chorus concludes its concert season by featuring the Mass in e minor of Anton Bruckner, a gorgeous, romantic work uniquely scored for chorus and a small group of winds. Fuguing tunes, part songs and anthems by colonial American composer William Billings are also included in this concert's offerings. We will conclude this event with a rousing and sophisticated choral rendition of Selections from Candide by Leonard Bernstein.
We have to admit that, though we've had more than 12 years' experience with choral music, we don't know the Bruckner or the Billings pieces. But if the Candide renditions are anything like the musical they're based on, we're sure this is going to be a concert to remember. Buy tickets here.
