Neko Case: Beware the Devil Woman

nekodevil.jpgRemember when you thought Neko Case just couldn't get any cooler? Ha! Now she's being held up as an example of the evils of rock-n-roll.

A few lyrics from Fox Confessor's brilliant "Hold On, Hold On" caught the attention of David J. Stewart at jesus-is-savior.com:

In the end I was the mean girl
Or somebody's in-between girl
Now it's the devil I love
And that's as funny as real love
Stewart explains why this is good news for Neko's career:
So when you sing about loving the Devil Ms. Case, in light of the abundant evidence of Satanism in the music industry, you have to expect to be exposed. I am not saying Neko Case is a Satanist. I am saying that those artists, who show some type of allegiance to Satan, are the one's who become the most successful in the industry.
Hear that Neko? You're gonna be bigger than Jesus, up there with Paul "ram-fondler" McCartney and the Rolling Stones! In this life, anyway. Then you're doomed to eternity in the furnace of hell, where the devil will rock you to sleep with stories of cities of ivory and gold.

Also, Fox Confessor is rock-n-roll--so much for that alt-country label you dislike. Stewart also has harsh words for the New Pornographers (their name speaks for itself), but some good news about Jesus.

In other, saner Neko news, she's appearing on Letterman on June 14, and playing the Moore on July 1.

(Hat tip on the Jesusy stuff to über-Neko-fan Erika Herzog.)

Fox Confessor's is still the best CD I've listened to all year.

There's nothing funny about loving the Devil--he's got a mean case of the clap.
