Pelting rain drove us out of Seattle and down I-90 this morning, but the clouds thinned magically over the Gorge. To the left, a threatening black pile of clouds; to the right, a sunbreak directly over the amphitheater. Sasquatch gates opened at either 10am or 11am, depending on which sign you believe, but we rolled in around 1pm after setting up a tent at the (well-reviewed) Stars & Stripes RV Resort well down the road. Sasquatch is sold out for Saturday and Sunday, and lodging is scarce.
So far, Rogue Wave, tuneful Brits Gomez, and Sufjan Stevens have played, Sufjan playing his very own styling of the National Anthem in honor of Memorial Day. We walked over to the Wookie Stage to catch a little of Architecture in Helsinki, but they were just about to play a song they announced was their "Coldplay ballad," so we beat a hasty retreat. We're missing some of Iron and Wine's set to post this, and Neko Case is up after that, so we gotta run.
The main thing is, it's not raining, the grass is very comfortable, and (sniffs the air), the grass is very plentiful. Now to score some of those exclusive media perks (potato chips and Dasani water). We've got the munchies for some reason.
