Rising Above The Books
The Seattle public library can be hard to take in all at once, so we recommend focusing attention on the 5th floor escalator. We found this charmer in a panic, fleeing the angst filled air generated by the throngs of public internet access users dominating the 5th floor mixing chamber. At our penultimate moment of dread (will we wait for a free internet machine forever?) we found our escape overhead.
Soaring like a neon beam of light, a rare single direction escalator rose in quiet confidence into the bookish heavens above. Its full glorious height was hidden until we were on board, gleefully soaring away from the vertically challenged fray below. For the techno-literary minded, this is as close an approximation of a stairway to heaven that you will ever find.
