Starbucks Hires Talent Agency

mini-starblog.jpgStarbucks has been hyping a movie lately that they co-produced. We haven't actually seen Akeelah and the Bee, but we're guessing it goes down as smooth as a shot of espresso tipped into a bottle of peppermint syrup and chugged. A little girl (and we're sure she's adorable and that the child actor does a fine job) faces adversity in her inner-city neighborhood and even in her own home (mom's probably an excellent actress) and yet she triumphs over all that... what do you call it... adversity and enters a spelling bee. In the bee she probably faces a bunch of rich, home schooled kids with three dads and poor social skills and she beats them! In the face of adversity!

The onslaught of Akeelah and the Bees, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles re-issues and other liberal porn has just begun, though, because Starbucks hired on William Morris this week to get them some new talent. Sadly, it'll probably be more of the same. Starbucks Media promises to be exactly like Starbucks coffee in that decadence, exoticism and sugar will trump substance every time.

Bah. Soft core liberal pr0n. If they had books and DVDs of Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky or Smedley Butler then I would have been interested. It is not like they are selling the Power of Nightmares DVD with a Latte.

Since when has Bob Dylan and Ray Charles been relevant in socially progressive media? The Johnson administration.

Zinn and Chomsky are too busy doing DVD commentary tracks to write stuff for Starbucks readers.

That is excellent that someone else (James) posted the unused Audio Commentary link, because the very names "Zinn and Chomsky" inspired me to do so!
