Stalk of the Town
Fresh from his quarter-hour of fame as a food blogger, Ronald is preparing a giant Spanish torta for a neighborhood party in Belltown. He plans to stalk chef Kerry Sear's cooking class at Cascadia on Saturday morning. On Sunday, he'll make is way into SoDo territory where wine writer/wine merchant Rich Kinssies promises to roast a pig and pour samples of Spanish reds at The Wine Outlet . We hope it goes well with the all the uneaten torta.
James plans to see the current shows at Roq La Rue on Saturday, to take his brother out for a birthday dinner on Sunday, and to catch Gretchen Mol's bazoom-personation of Bettie Page at some point.
Matt will check out the Helio Sequence, Crystal Skulls and the Silversun Pickups Friday at the Paradox. Saturday he'll rip apart one of the lamest books he's ever read at a Seattle book club meeting.
Dan hopes to get to Theater Schmeater Saturday night, but other than that he looks forward on a weekend blissfully void of appointments, schedules and deadlines. How ever will he piss it all away?
Saturday morning-ish, Michael vB is set to strike out on his inaugural Urban Hike, a circumambulation of Lake Union. He'll either report back or provide fodder for yet another post about floaters. He thought he might spend Sunday morning at the Broadway Farmer's Market, dodging hippies and bullets, but it turns out only the West Seattle market is opening this weekend.
Jack will be kicking back tonight after a long week to watch The Producers (the 1968 version). Saturday, he will pay no attention to the doctor-prescribed Frankenstein boot he has to wear, and will help his mom move to a new apartment, because he's a good son. (He reports that his mom "owes him big" and that he doesn't want to hear "any of that 10-hour labor crap.") Sunday: Barbeque!
Urine Gone has more regrettable commercials, although their product name is amazingly direct. Donte' will be celebrating another year in which he managed to not die every single day, so he'll be spending the weekend in a cake and present-filled haze. Sure it's a haze that will see him at Derrick Carter, Mindcamp, and a birthday tour gathering free stuff, but it's a haze nonetheless.
His earliest meal at a sit down restaurant was probably at the Gim Wah, a Magnolia Village institution of 70s-style Chinese dining, and Seth will be there tonight, celebrating his grandma's birthday. Call her generation 1. Saturday night, he's celebrating the birthdays of his brother-in-law (generation 3) and his niece (generation 4). He's reminded of an Ogden Nash poem:
When I remember bygone days
I think how evening follows morn;
So many I loved were not yet dead,
So many I love were not yet born.
Courtney will be getting a migraine as of…right now. Who started this lightning storm in her office? There goes her Friday night. After the drugs wear off, she’ll be racing her mountain bike this Sunday at
