Roller rink still idle

rollerd.jpgFirst they closed Leilani and you didn't speak out, because you didn't bowl. Then they closed Southgate Skate Center and you didn't speak out, because you didn't roller skate. Blah blah blah you know at the end there's no one left to speak out for you. Well, that and you can speak out all you want but ain't nothing but $1.8 million going to save the White Center roller skate place. Efforts are there, though.

They used to skate at the Southgate Skate Center, but the Rat City girls have been holding their events at Magnuson recently and we're all for the Hanger 30 over White Center. Not that we've seen them in either location, admittedly, and we're missing them again at their next event as it's sold out and we're ticketless. Theoretically we prefer Magnuson over Southgate. Right now the skate center down there is sitting empty, waiting for some enterprising young kids to break in and skate the place on the down low. A midnight injury, a lawsuit, shady insurance deals, another lawsuit, an insurance fire: you can see how the place is in jeopardy of never opening as a skating venue again. Aleady there was a fire adjascent to the empty building that blackened a side of it last summer. For the forseeable future you'll have to get your derby on at Magunson and your roller disco via Greenlake.

Crap on a stick I was looking forward to going to that roller derby match. I suck for not getting early tickets.
