You know those radio ads? The ones with the excruciatingly earnest song:
You love her soooowowo/ This sheeiiiee must knowow/ Straight from the heart/ (Weisfield Jewelers)
We always wondered about that song--it seemed a little out of the competence of a local jewelry store to write music, hire a singer, etc. As it turns out, the ad is a knock-off. A friend heard the same song in an ad for a jeweler in Lexington, Kentucky. Same song, but a different jewelry store name sung after the chorus.
Using the Internets, we learn that Weisfield, which has locations in five Western states, is "a division of Sterling Jewelers, Inc."
Sterling Jewelers, Inc., which also operates national chain Kay Jewelers, is itself "a wholly owned subsidiary of Signet Group plc."
Signet Group plc, a British-owned firm, is "the world's largest specialty retail jeweller," with 1,221 stores in the US and 592 in the UK. It's traded on the New York Stock Exchange (priced at 19.32 as of 11:01am today--up .09!).
Weisfield Jewelers has been in the Northwest since 1917. Owner Leo Weisfield was one of the founders of Seafair.
Now his employees take orders from London. Why did Paul Revere even bother, 231 years ago today?

I just want to know who gives a fuck if the only good thing you could do is find this info? what are we supposed to stop buying from them because there song is used in more then one retail market and for more then one store? This and your artical is just dumb and your a butt fart for evn post this carp what a cock sucker you are DUMBASS!
