Going into Friday's game against Oakland, the Mariners were 3-1 and batting .329 as a team. We were feeling good.
But this weekend, the Mariners provided a display of team hitting futility that was historic even for them. And this is a team that once had Pat Putnam lead them in RBI. With 67.
The Mariners went 27 innings without scoring over the weekend, the second longest such streak in team history. They had only two hits Friday and one hit Saturday. Painful.
Next weekend, the Mariners will be in Boston, and are lined up to face Curt Schilling, Tim Wakefield, and Josh Beckett. Tip for the clubhouse staff--save yourself the trouble and don't bother to pack the bats.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days
