Liberal Bloggers Descend On Seattle

mini-CrashingtheGate.jpgIf you're a liberal, a Democrat, left-leaning, a new media person, an old media person, a fundraiser, a grassroots organizer, or a blogger or any combination of those you probably already know that some of the cool kids are in town this weekend and have plans to catch them in concert at least once. Markos Moulitsas Zuniga of Daily Kos and Jerome Armstrong of MyDD are going to be kicking around Seattle and the area starting today at the Seattle Labor Temple 2800 1st Ave, Hall 1. Like us, you probably have no idea what a labor temple is, but it sounds kind of Karl Marx/Mad Max cool.

Markos and Jerome wrote a book called Crashing the Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People Powered Politics and this is their book tour for it. You may have seen them on The Colbert Report or similar recently talking about it. That book, yeah. We don't have it yet and haven't read it but the title is pretty descriptive. It talks about how the Left is consistantly out-organized and out-campaigned and suggests some remedies for those situations and there aren't many better authorities to discuss grassroots organizing, especially web-based organizing, than these two guys.

So, tonight at 7 at the Labor Temple. It's not listed as a reading -- Goldy bills it as a "discussion, Q&A, and book signing"-- so it should have some interest beyond the standard book tour fare. They're also doing Marymoor Park tomorrow in Redmond at 11:30am and Orca Books in Olympia at 7pm Saturday.

It should be noted that the Marymoor Park picnic requires an RSVP to event@nwprogressive.com so that they can have a burger ready for you. Check out their info on the event here.
