but did you know Cornel West busts some rhymes?
Back in the day, we turned to books for West’s philosophizing. But now we can just download it, in hip-hop form. What a difference a decade makes!
Even though we didn’t actually read every single thing on the syllabus (and got our cultural studies degree anyway —suckers!) we did spend some QT with CW.
"Race Matters," my brothers and sisters. But does West matter anymore?
Apparently, some Olympians think so — and we're betting they're not in the legislature. West will speak (and perhaps rap?) at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Evergreen State College, natch.
Tickets are $20 at the door ($15 in advance at Wall of Sound (206) 411-9880.)
Seattlest is not sure if we can make it. After all, this was supposed to be the weekend we were finally going to finish up our thesis, tenatively titled, "Re-Imagining the Real World: Dystopic Simulcra of Race and Gender in MTV’s Real World.”
It was due back in March. Of 1997.

Oh snap! That was going to be my thesis! But then I canceled my cable.
Why are you repeating the slander that Professor West raps? He doesn't; his CDs are spoken word.
Have some respect.
