We have mixed feelings on Rudy's Barbershop. On the one hand, Seattlest gets our hair cut there. On the other hand, we hate it. What can we say - We are large... We learned today that Rudy's is about to begin opening shops in LA, but when you roll into Jonathan's town you can't come in with a name like "Rudy's." No. You gotta go bigger. Fabulous-er! Rudy's in LA will be known as "Rudolph's." We're not making this up.
Ok, actually we are, kind of. There are already some Rudy's locations in LA, but they're opening a new, upscale-type Rudy's called Rudolph's there.
Ever since Seattle native Alex Calderwood started doing business back in the mid-‘90s, haircuts and hotels in the Pacific Northwest haven’t been the same. His first group venture, Rudy’s Barbershop , set the parlor-shop standard by offering the hip and artfully-coiffed a place to get a cut and a copy of the latest i-D.
We don't know what Rudy's location they're going to, but we've always felt the chain was more Maximum Rock n' Roll than i-D. But, whatevs.

I need a haircut. But Rudolph's? Come on, guys. I hope they have smut everywhere.

I wonder if the change to "Rudolph's" will allow them to charge more for a cut.
Fed up with the long waits for a marginal haircut at Rudy's, I've been frequenting Scream in Ballard. Yes, I actually have occasional business in Ballard, so it works for me to get my hair coiffed at a non-caphill establishment.
Gotta dig a barber shop that plays the Melvins in the background. Both shops do.
