Elbert and Becky Higginbotham

Sorry, but is this not the awesomest story? It's not just the names, either, it's everything. Granted it's stretching Seattlest's area of jurisdiction a little, but we can't help ourselves.

Elbert Higginbotham and Becky Higginbotham got lost in the wilds of southern Oregon lately along with another couple of people in a RV. They drove off the road in the snow or something and no one could find them for a couple of days. They were found eventually, though, and the television news broadcast video of them hugging friends and generally displaying some excitement to be alive and rejoined to the civilized world. Time to celebrate the Higginbothams for 15 minutes on the national news.

Unfortunately for the Higginbothams they're a wanted pair. Arizona authorities apparently have a few qualms with Team Higginbotham regarding a little substance called methamphetamine and a little something else called weapons charges. After being caught with meth and a shotgun and agreeing to cooperate fully with the authorities they quit Arizona and have been wherabouts unknown since. Until they got lost off the Coastal Highway, of course. So they were hiding, lost, found, recognized by Arizona authorities, they then disappeared again but were spotted near Long Beach, WA and arrested. Elbert and Becky Higginbotham, it's been a long strange trip. They're currently awaiting extradition to Arizona where Navajo County Sheriff Gary Butler theorizes in the P-I they'll get probation for the drug charges and jailed for felony flight. Hopefully they can kick the meth thing and write a book or something.
