A Painless Way to Enjoy Sports

4722132.jpgFriday night once again showed why having an emotional connection to a sports team is a really, really, really, really, really bad idea. While most people spent their Friday night enjoying a meal out, taking in a movie, or simply enjoying the start of the weekend. We spent it in sheer agony.

We have said it before, if you know of a child, or plan on having one, don't make the mistakes we made.
Keep sports out of their life. Others who suffered with us following Friday's hearbreaking Husky loss included the raccoon we drunkenly chased down the alley behind our house, and the washing machine that probably wishes it were farther from the TV.

For those of us who have already been exposed, and for whom there is no turning back, might we suggest becoming a bigger fan of pre-season games? They are completely meaningless and a waste of time, but win or lose it doesn't matter. You get to enjoy the sport without any of the pain.

Tonight the Mariners play one of their final Spring Training games against Texas. The game is on FSN at 6pm. So sit back and enjoy, before the reality of the season sinks in.
